Number 6 was the big bad boy of Yellowstone. His "It's all about me" attitude became legendary around Mammoth Hot Springs, as the list of damaged vehicles and unnerved park visitors grew. He was magnificent to watch. I sat very still in my truck as he brushed by, bugling, within 2 feet. It was an amazing experience. Number 6 died in February, 2009 in a freak accident ... tripping and falling over onto his massive antlers. He was unable to get up. I'll miss him very much, but will look forward to seeing his sons and daughters during my visits to the park.
